Rochfort Bridge is the longest wood trestle bridge in North America. It is pretty impressive to see all the wood bracing, but is just a bridge after all. The surrounding countryside is mostly fields interspersed with some poplar bush. At this point the Pembina valley is fairly gentle, unlike the big cliffs when it goes under highway 16 (the yellowhead) a little ways south of here.
There is a tour bus stop on the south side of the highway west of the bridge. This is a fairly good viewpoint, but it is much more interesting to see the bridge up close. The shoulders are quite wide as the highway goes under the bridge, so stopping on the shoulder works quite well.
The bridge goes over highway 43 (the Alaska Highway) northwest of Edmonton.
