Bow River (Banff to Canmore)

Floating down the Bow River is both relaxing and exhilarating. It just depends if your floating down a peaceful section or trying to manouver around sweepers (trees poking into the river). Either way it is beautiful.
We did it in a Folbot (kayak with a cloth hull), we're not especially experienced, and we did fine. If the water is flowing too fast (as it usually does in spring) you should probably talk to the tourist office first. We did find a stranded kayak in a tree, so obviously some people have got into trouble. Always try to follow the largest branch of the river and you should be okay.
We put in right below Bow Falls, in Banff, and took out right after the bridge on the southwest side of the river in Canmore. You'll have to have multiple vehicles to do this.
