The hike to Lost Lake is a little dull. The exciting part is having no idea where you're going. There is a complete mess of trails around here that seem to start and end randomly. It's mostly through a pine forest with a few rocks poking through here and there. It gets swampy in parts too, so don't expect your feet to stay dry.
OK, now that you really don't want to go, I'll tell you the good parts. The lake is tiny and peaceful. It is spring fed, so clear right to the bottom with beautiful color. There is an old broken down cabin on the far side of the lake and the whole area seems to be rarely visited anymore.
The parking area is just off highway 1 on the north side. You park near train tracks, and cross them to get into the forest. From here, head vaugely north along whatever trails you can find. You will most likely run into the lake.
