This is a classic Canadian Rockies hike - a bit of a grunt through a spruce forest and then it opens up with beautiful views and an alpine lake. Many people stop here, but you can continue up the headwall either behind the lake or to the north past Elephant Rocks.
This is also a great winter trip - there is a ski route as well as a snowshoe route. Much of the trail is packed down enough that you could get away without snowshoes, but there are likely places where you will need them.
