Rawson Lake is one of many hikes in the Kananaskis Lakes area. After parking by the upper lake, you start hiking on the extremely popular trail around the lake. This is a wide, well traveled trail and you will likely run into other people if not crowds. Once you branch off towards Rawson Lake, there is a bit less traffic because the climb is steady. The trail climbs through a spruce forest until you finally emerge at the lake. The view of the lake in the cirque is spectacular. You can hike along the south shore of the lake for a while. In winter, this last section is dangerous because of the risk of avalanche from the nearby slope.
This is a great snowshoe in winter, and often packed down enough to do without snowshoes.
