The Clifford E. Lee Nature Sanctuary is just a half hour drive west from Edmonton. It is quite a few acres of wetlands, aspen forest, and a bit of prairie. There are about 6 kilometers of trails, all of which are pretty flat and easy to walk. The first few kilometers are mostly boardwalks skirting the wetlands, which are very nice walking. As soon as you get onto a trail, the mosquitos attack (these are wetlands after all), and if you don't have lots of bug spray it can be miserable. If you do have bug spray, it is a lovely walk.
There are always lots of animals around, particularly birds. You are pretty much guaranteed to see redwinged blackbirds chattering at you from cattails, tree swallows swooping overhead, coots moseying around, and many different kinds of ducks, geese, grebes, merganzers, and teals. As you can see, there is no shortage of birds. I did see a whitetail deer watching me on the woodland trail too.
It seems like it's not very popular, so it's great for a quiet walk. The few people I have seen there have been locals, as there are quite a few acreages around.
I'll reiterate - if you go BRING BUG REPELLENT and you will have a great time.
