Maligne Canyon

We went on a winter hike through Maligne (said muh-leen apparently) Canyon. We started at the bottom of the canyon (at the Fifth Bridge) and hiked up to the main access at the bridge on the Maligne Lake Road. This took a couple hours with lots of time for poking around interesting areas. The winter we went was very mild, so not all of the canyon was frozen over. We did manage to go in the canyon a little bit, but we couldn't go very far before we had to turn around and use the trail above, with views down into the canyon. We did, however, get to go into a small cave which was quite interesting as I've really never done any caving before. The first 15 feet or so was pretty tight and you had to squirm through, but once you got in it was pretty roomy, with around 10 people all able to stand up. It was very hard to see, and I didn''t manage to sqeeze a tripod in there with me though, so only one picture made the cut (there had to be at least one).
