Grotto Canyon

We hiked up grotto canyon in the winter, so we just walked on the ice. It's not a very deep canyon, and pretty easy to walk up. The petroglyphs are pretty faded. We did find them, but they would be very easy to miss. They're on the left hand side on a smooth rock wall as you are walking upstream. We walked to where the river forks and there were icefalls coming down the cliff in front of us. This was a pretty easy walk, but we found the trail wasn't marked very well. The first section of the trail follows a powerline cut. Not that you're likely to get lost though, just sometimes not sure where to go until you reach the river. From there it's pretty straight forward - just go upstream.

Apparently there are a lot of popular rock climbing routes around here, for all you climbers out there.
