Ghost River Area

West of Calgary, the Ghost River flows from the Don Getty Wildland into the Ghost Reservoir on the Bow River. There is a road that branches off the Forestry Trunk Road that leads upstream towards the Don Getty Wildland. While the mountains are not accessible by car, with a four wheel drive you would be able to get close anyway.

This road has many scenic viewpoints, is next to some nice hills to run up, and is very interesting overall. The downside is that it's a logging road. There are heavy trucks driving along here, taking up the whole road. And it's a rough road. At some points you may have to back up for half a km or so to get out of the way of a logging truck.

It looks like lots of motorbiking and atving goes on around here. There are lots of well-used cutlines that are not very interesting for hiking, but would be pretty good for dirtbiking.
