Dinosaur Provincial Park

I went to Dinosaur Provincial Park in early December. There was just a bit of fresh snow on the ground, and it was beautiful. When I went (on Monday morning) there was almost no one else there - I just saw one park ranger driving around in their truck. In summer, though, this place is crowded, and it is recommended that you reserve a camping spot if you intend on camping.

There are three official hiking trails, all pretty short. They would each take at most an hour. You can hike anywhere inside the driving loop, but outside the loop it is a nature preserve, and no one is allowed unless accompanied by a guide.

There are warning signs about rattle snakes. I don't think they're around much in the winter though. There were lots of cat tracks everywhere, although I never saw any.

Getting here is pretty easy - there are lots of signs. Head east from highway 36 on highway 544. Turn north just after highway 876 at the sign for Dinosaur Provincial Park.
